Surely nowadays the ladies who live there are not the owners of the houses and grounds, an official organization takes care of the maintenance, protection and distribution of the premises. Only single ladies can live there; there is no room for families in the traditional meaning of the word, so no children too.....and subsequently a very serene and silent ambiance for contemplative living.I don't know the strategy behind the allotment of the houses..there must be quite a queu for it as the place is immensely popular. I hope that this info helps.
