Tuscania is a town and comune in the province of Viterbo, Lazio Region, Italy. Until the late 19th century the town was known as Toscanella. According to the legend, Tuscania was founded by Aeneas' son, Ascanius, where he had found twelve dog pups. Another legend attributes the foundation to one Tusco, son of Hercules and Araxes.
