I've come by this picture h t t p : / / is . gd / SmNXzC stating it is cerro de siete colores (remove the spaces then copy/paste the url into the address bar - the damn forum prevents me from posting a clickable url and has no photo upload feature!) Does anyone know where exactly this geological formation can be seen?

It's the most accessible coloured mountain in the Quebrada de Humahuaca because it's located next to the centre of Purmamarca (a very small community) . You can climb on a small hill to get a better view . The people over there will charge you for it , but it isn't necessary to do this . In fact : you can see the hill from everywhere in town . The colours change during the day due to the sunlight so it's worth to stay a while in the village . They do have a very colourfull market over there . Further up the road there is another coloured hill in Maimara (Paleta del Pintor) but the best sight is probably the Mirador del Serrania Hornocal in Humahuaca . This last one is the least accessible because you have to drive on an unpaved road for several miles uphill , you have to drive yourself or take a taxi . The mirador is at 4265m altitude and that was probably the best view that I've seen in the Quebrada . There is another one in between Tilcara and Humahuaca , the Yacoraite o Pollera de la Coya , but this last one is not as spectacular as the other ones . Hopefully this answers your question .
