The Toronto Blue Jays publicly apologized to a fan whose "Yankees Suck" sign was confiscated at Rogers Centre this week.
The New York Yankees (56-45) snagged a much-needed win on Tuesday when Ben Rice hit a game-winning home run off Toronto Blue Jays (59-42) closer Jeff Hoffman to move a game closer to the Jays in the AL East standings.
Right as Yankees manager Aaron Boone was about to take the ball from ace Max Fried in the sixth inning in Toronto on Wednesday night, YES Network cameras zoomed in on the left-hander’s throwing hand. Fried, who had been wiping his hand on his jersey toward the end of his outing, had blood above the nail on his pinky finger.
With the victory, the Blue Jays are 61-42 overall, which put them percentage points ahead of the Houston Astros in the American League. Toronto also has the second-best record in baseball behind the Milwaukee Brewers, who are percentage points ahead of the Blue Jays.
