A northwest Idaho community is still reeling after a 20-year-old man was suspected of fatally shooting two firefighters and injuring another after intentionally starting a fire to ambush them.

Roley had no known criminal record. Local police had five recent minor and non-violent interactions with Roley, whereby they asked him to move his vehicle from where he was parked.

Wess Roley, 20, has been accused of deliberately igniting a brush fire on Canfield Mountain near Coeur d’Alene on Sunday afternoon to lure first responders before opening fire with a high-powered rifle, Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris said.
