The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on the TikTok divest-or-ban law as it considers whether to give the company more time.

TikTok announced that it will shut down in the United States by January 19 unless the ban is either lifted or delayed by the Supreme Court.

ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, said it will start the shutdown process if the Supreme Court doesn’t step in.

TikTok and its parent company ByteDance face a law specifically written by Congress about them. Here, however, they’re not dealing with a domestic company. They’re looking at whether the Protecting Americans From Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act is constitutional.
