Federal officials promised on Tuesday to crack down on a potent semisynthetic opioid found in convenience store gummies, drinks and dietary supplements by putting the substance in the most restricted class of drugs.

A new opioid threat you probably haven't heard about is targeting kids. Products containing 7-OH are currently being sold legally in the form of items such as gummy bears and ice cream at smoke shops across the Valley.

The opioid-like substance is sold in gummies, tablets and drinkable shots, mainly in gas stations and convenience stores.
