Kathy Hochul, New York’s governor, has decided to allow the unpopular New York City Mayor to remain in office despite his quid pro quo with the Trump Administration for attacking immigrants in exchange for the dismissal of a federal corruption charge against him.

The mayor of New York, who is accused of corruption and illegal campaign financing, could escape prosecution, at the government's request. Prosecutors and magistrates have since been resigning in quick succession.
