Lawyers for two election workers who are owed $148 million in damages from Rudy Giuliani say the evidence proves their clients are entitled to three World Series rings that the former New York City mayor says he gave to his son.

A trial over the custody of the rings and Giuliani’s Palm Beach, Florida, condominium are scheduled for Jan. 16.

The lawyers filed papers in Manhattan federal court asking a judge to find that their clients should be given the rings marking New York Yankees’ victories in 1996, 1999 and 2000.

Bob Veale, a left-handed pitcher and veteran of 13 big-league seasons, has died, the Pittsburgh Pirates announced on Tuesday. He was 89. "Bob was an integral member of the Pirates who helped our team capture back-to-back division titles as well as the 1971 World Series,

A 6-foot-6 strikeout king, he was a star of the Pittsburgh rotation who left batters wary of both his fastball and his wildness.

Veale was part of the Pirates 1971 World Series-winning team and still remains second all-time in team strikeouts.
