On Wednesday, President Donald Trump said he “loved” America’s cattle ranchers. But farmers, who overwhelmingly supported the president in the 2024 election, say they aren’t feeling the love right now.
Typically, calves are weaned around six to eight months of age, or about 180 to 240 days. However, when forage is limited or cows begin to lose body condition, earlier weaning — closer to four or five months — can give cows a much-needed break and improve their chances of rebreeding.
VINING, Minn. — Dave Uhren hasn’t marketed his beef cattle at the local stockyards in nearly eight years. Instead, his family’s grass-fed cattle are all processed locally and sold to loyal customers that like the way the Uhrens raise their cattle.
"I'm appalled President Trump, who campaigned on how he loved farmers, is putting America's farmers out of business by helping Argentina farmers first," said John Boyd, a cattle and crop farmer and founder of the National Black Farmers Association. "Trump set us up and sold us out," he told Newsweek.
“The prime pinwheel steaks made from the ribeye cap are to die for. Tender as a filet but with the flavoring of a ribeyes marbling,” one person claims. “Those Costco rib caps unreal!! But I’ve only been able to justify the cost once lol. I thought, well if I went to a steakhouse I’d pay the same amount for one steak vs 3 rib caps,” another agrees.
“Cattle crisis” has a nice alliterative ring to it—and that may be why we’ve heard the phrase lately. It’s irresistible to headline authors and television personalities. Just because they like to write it and say it doesn’t make it so.
