Kimali Stephen last spoke to her dad, Albert, on the day Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica. More than a week after he disappeared, the concerned daughter is planning a trip to the island country to look for him.

The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said in a statement shared with PEOPLE that its Air Rescue South and Fireboat 73 responded to a medical call “possibly involving an animal bite” off Boca Chita Key on Saturday, Oct. 25, just after 11:30 a.m. local time.
