Hurricane Melissa is nearing landfall in Jamaica. It has exploded into one of the most powerful storms ever observed in the Atlantic Basin.
Hurricane Melissa is stronger than Hurricane Katrina 20 years ago, forecasters warn. While both storms reached sustained winds of 175 mph at their peak, Katrina made landfall as a Category 3 storm.
Tuesday morning Hurricane Melissa is expected to continue heading north and make landfall on the south coast of Jamaica.
