Marat Khusnutdinov tied it late in the third period and had the lone shootout goal, helping the Boston Bruins beat the New York Islanders 4-3 on Tuesday night for their fourth straight victory.

That’s been true lately for Marat Khusnutdinov. The 23-year-old forward, who scored the winner in last week’s shootout against Buffalo, scored the tying goal with 4:54 left and the winner in the shootout to push the Bruins to a 4-3 win over the Islanders on Tuesday.

The Bruins faced the Islanders on Oct. 28 and won 5-2 on home ice. Elias Lindholm, David Pastrnak, Mikey Eyssimont, Morgan Geeke and Fraser Minten scored in the comeback victory, and Joonas Korpisalo made 33 saves.

The NHL regular season is not yet 20 percent complete. But if the early state of the highly competitive Eastern Conference is any indication, even early November games could have postseason implications for the New York Islanders and Boston Bruins.

Once the odd man out, Bruins forward Marat Khusnutdinov is having himself one hell of a week for the Black and Gold.
