Quarterback Josh Allen is known for his masterful improvisations during games. But the reigning NFL MVP told PEOPLE that part of his success can be attributed to the preparation he puts in before he sets foot on the field.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen passed former Panthers star Cam Newton for the most games in NFL history with both a passing and rushing touchdown.

The history-making touchdown came in thrilling fashion, too. Allen hit Khalil Shakir for an explosive 54-yard scoring pass with 12:18 left in the third quarter, which at the time extended the Bills' lead to 23 points. He notched his first rushing score earlier in the game when he punched the ball in from a yard out late in the second quarter.
