Digest more
South Florida stays breezy on Tuesday with wind gusts as high as 25 to 30 mph. The chance of rain will be lower on Tuesday due to drier air filtering in across South Florida as Imelda continues to lift northward. It will eventually move northeastward away from the U.S.
Tropical Storm Imelda may strengthen into a hurricane, with flooding risks from Florida to Virginia and highest threats along the Carolinas.
Tropics threats/impacts for Jacksonville/NE Florida/SE Georgia: None through Saturday into Sun. morning but an increasing risk for rip currents & rough seas & surf by late Sunday into next week. Gusty winds too - any & all impacts dependent on possible development of the tropical disturbance (td #9) over the Bahamas through the weekend - + the system’s (forecast to become “Imelda”) location & intensity relative to the local coast.

Hurricane Forecasts: What You Should Know
Hurricane forecasts have some caveats that might not appear on a graphic, including the meaning of a storm's winds, landfall and its impacts.
Talking the Tropics w/Mike: Heads-up-disturbance to move east of Florida & near Bahamas by Sun./Mon.
Gabrielle is now caught up in the prevailing westerlies & is accelerating east/northeast & will move across the islands of the Azores Thursday through early Friday. Increasing shear + cooler ocean temps. will combine to cause fairly fast weakening *but* Gabrielle is still forecast to be near hurricane while impacting the Azores.
It’s too soon to know how Humberto could affect land. Another potential storm nearby is making for a complicated forecast.
