Novo Nordisk’s new Wegovy pill hit the market this week. The Danish drug maker, best known for GLP-1 injections like Ozempic and Wegovy, is now the first company to manufacture and receive FDA approval for an oral GLP-1 pill for weight management.
Americans can now purchase the starter dose of blockbuster weight-loss drug Wegovy as a pill, drug maker Novo Nordisk announced Monday. Other strengths will be available as pills by the end of the week.
The approval gives Novo Nordisk a head start over chief rival Eli Lilly, which is racing to launch its own obesity pill.
