The world’s best golfers are set to converge at TPC Sawgrass this week for one of the most prestigious events on the PGA Tour calendar: The Players Championship.

It hasn’t been the ideal start to the 2026 PGA Tour season that World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler likely envisioned after dominating the sport over the past two years on a week-to-week basis.

Defending champion Rory McIlroy and world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler are both trying to add a third Players title to their résumés.

The two-time major champion withdrew with a back injury of his own after completing just one hole.

There are also fourteen golfers making their tournament debut this year, among them are Michael Brennan, Steven Fisk and William Mouw.
