Audiences have seen three new movies (Prey, Alien: Romulus, Predator: Killer Of Killers) and a new TV series (Alien: Earth), and we’ll be treated to the arrival of Predator: Badlands in theaters everywhere.

In other words, Trachtenberg didn't want Predator: Badlands to feel like so many other modern blockbusters that only make sense if you're watched the movies and shows leading up to it (looking at you Marvel).

Predator: Badlands flips the script on other franchise outings. Instead of humans hunting Predators, the film follows a young Predator outcast named Dek (Dimitrius Schuster‑Koloamatangi) who teams up with Thia (Elle Fanning). It also includes a different kind of Alien crossover element, as Thia is a synth created by the Weyland-Yutani corporation.
