Tropical Depression Nine was upgraded to Tropical Storm Imelda Sunday afternoon. The 2pm advisory from the National Hurricane Center increased winds to 40 mph, making Imelda a weak tropical storm.
As the tropics continue to heat up with recently formed Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine, a tropical storm watch was issued for parts of Florida on Saturday.
STORM SURGE: A storm surge will raise water levels by as much as 1 to 3 feet above ground level along the immediate coast in areas of onshore winds in the northwestern Bahamas. Near the coast, the surge will be accompanied by large waves.
