The cause of the shutdown was found to be a fault in south-west London that led to a fire at an electrical substation in Maida Vail, north-west London. Problems were compounded by a trespasser at Mansion House, a fire alarm and other incidents affecting the Mildmay, Circle, Hammersmiths and City, and Victoria Lines.
London Underground lines reopened on Tuesday morning after an electrical substation fire brought the service to a standstill. The Elizabeth, Bakerloo, Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines – as well as the Overground’s Suffragette Line – were all suspended on Monday, disrupting thousands of journeys.
