Tesla gained 3% after Musk said Optimus humanoid robots will be sold to consumers by end of 2026 following safety testing.

The Tesla Cybercab robotaxi and Optimus robot are both set to enter production this year as Elon Musk bets Tesla's future on AI and robotics.

Musk previously said the autonomous Cybercab would begin production in April 2026. He also said “low production” of Optimus robots would begin by 2025 so they could be used in Tesla’s factories. He said “high production” of the Optimus robots would “hopefully” come in 2026, and allow other companies to use the robots in their own factories.

Tech investor Jason Calacanis said Tesla's Optimus robot could surpass the company's car business, calling it "the most transformative technology product ever made."
