On the other hand, the last year's runners-up Vidarbha claimed a vital 80-run in the other semi-final over Mumbai to book their spot in the final.

Danish Malewar has scored his second century of his debut Ranji Trophy season, as Vidarbha finished Day 1 at 254/4. Karun Nair also scored a brilliant 86 but his innings was cut short after an unfortunate run out.

A horrible mix-up between Karun Nair (86) and Danish Malewar (138 not out) denied the former a deserving century but their much needed resistance took Vidarbha to a formidable 254/4 at stumps on the opening day of the Ranji Trophy final against Kerala here on Wednesday.
