BOSTON – Joonas Korpisalo made 29 saves and posted his third shutout of the season for the Boston Bruins in a 2-0 win against the Ottawa Senators at TD Garden on Thursday.
With Bruins starter Jeremy Swayman sidelined (minor upper body-injury), Korpisalo, who had a 3.27 goals-against average and .890 save-percentage with the Senators a year ago, got the start. This season, Korpisalo had a 2.88 goals-against average and .891 save-percentage going into Thursday’s game. His GAA dropped to 2.70 after the shutout.
The Boston Bruins got back in the win column with ... The effort earned Geekie the game’s second star. Joonas Korpisalo backstopped the Bruins to a shutout win, stopping all 29 shots he faced.
