He said the world was in a new arms race with advanced weaponry, like drones and artificial intelligence (AI) creating more opportunity for death and violence. Zelensky criticized the world for moving too slowly to defend itself from the growing violence and pleaded for "strong friends" and allies that would stand up with Ukraine against Russia. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed the United Nations General Assembly and refuted accusations of Iran's purported intention to develop a nuclear weapon. His comments came just a few months after President Donald Trump ordered military action that targeted a suspected nuclear enrichment facility in Iran. Pezeshkian also criticized Israel for its war in Gaza and called Western leaders "hypocrites" for condemning countries like his for pursuing advanced weaponry.
