The Chicago Bears have interviewed Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator Drew Petzing and Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver for their head coaching job.

Anthony Weaver, who spent the 2024 NFL season as Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator, interviewed this week with the Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints.

The Chicago Bears have kicked started their head coach search by requesting interviews with some prominent names, including Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. But an intriguing candidate has emerged for Chicago's coaching vacancy.

Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver may be exactly what the Chicago Bears are looking for. Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported that

There are plenty of names being attached to the Chicago Bears ' head coaching vacancy, and more names were added on Black Monday, the NFL's unofficial start to the offseason for most teams. On a day where coaches find out the fate of their coaching future, others get to begin the process of potentially landing a head coaching job.

Miami’s defensive coordinator had previously interviewed for head coaching vacancies before taking the job with the Dolphins last offseason.

Pete Carroll was one of three candidates the Bears interviewed for their head coaching vacancy Thursday, a name that raises some eyebrows.

Coach Weaver is a leader of men and you could see that in how he conducts himself and if you ask anybody in the defensive room, he’ll tell you the same,” safety Jevon Holland said.

The Chicago Bears interviewed former Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll for their head coaching job on Thursday. The 73-year-old Carroll is looking to return to the sideline after moving into an advisory role with the Seahawks at the end of last season.
