The Atlanta Braves called Craig Kimbrel up from Triple-A Gwinnett earlier this week, but his stint with the team didn't last long.

Unlike Tom Glavine, Craig Kimbrel at least got to pitch one more time for the Braves before abruptly being shown the door. Kimbrel will forever be recognized as one of the greatest relievers in Braves history.

The reliever and nine-time All-Star was designated for assignment in an abrupt decision by the Braves on Saturday, which is one outing and one day after Kimbrel was called up from the minors. On Friday night, the 37-year-old made his season debut in Atlanta’s 5-4 loss to the Giants.
