MATTOON — A fundraiser has been started to help with the burial costs of a Mattoon man who died in a two-vehicle crash on Wednesday north of town.

A 66-year-old Fish Lake homeowner was shot by an intruder after he interrupted a burglary in progress on Sunday morning, the LaPorte County Sheriff's Office wrote in a press release.
