California wildfires lead to overwhelmed animal shelters, prompting an interstate rescue of 50 dogs to Phoenix, assisted by Wings of Rescue and funded by Petco and Central Pet.

The number of deaths from the wildfires that destroyed entire communities in the Los Angeles area this month has risen to 29, the county medical examiner’s office said Monday.

Jan. 27 A new wildfire was reported today at 4:16 p.m. in Los Angeles County. The wildfire has been burning on private land. Currently, there is no data on the containment status of the fire and the cause has yet to be determined.
