PONTE VEDRA, Fla. — Brooks Koepka on Wednesday dropped a serious hint that he wants back on the PGA Tour once his LIV Golf contract is up. The five-time major championship winner responded for the first time publicly about comments Fred Couples made recently about Koepka’s desire to leave LIV Golf and return to the PGA Tour.

Fred Couples claimed the LIV Golfer wanted to rejoin the PGA Tour. However, ahead of LIV Singapore, Koepka said, "I’ve got a contract obligation out here to fulfill."

Phil Mickelson took aim at Fred Couples on Tuesday in a fiery post on X after Couples declared that LIV Golf star Brooks Koepka wants to return to the PGA Tour. Mickelson, one of the faces of LIV Golf and one of the original Tour defectors, later deleted the tweet in which he trashed Couples for making public comments about Koepka’s intentions.

Koepka’s deal with LIV expires at the end of this season. Assuming there is no union between the tours by that point, a safe assumption, then it stands to reason that Koepka could return to the PGA Tour if no one gets in his way. Given his pedigree and five major championships it would be hard to turn him away.

Always a relatively aloof character, Brooks Koepka neither confirmed nor dispelled rumors that he is seeking to leave the LIV Golf League in favour of a return to the PGA Tour. Which in and of itself might be telling.
