Mexico reports Jalisco security stabilized after cartel violence following kingpin "El Mencho's" reported death, with flights resuming to Puerto Vallarta.

The security crisis in the Mexican state of Jalisco continued, with 23 inmates still at large, at least 41 people detained iand new highway blockades.

The Mexican army killed the leader of the powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel, Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, "El Mencho," in an operation Sunday, a federal official said.

Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, known as “El Mencho” was the boss of one of the fastest-growing criminal networks in Mexico.

The head has finally been cut off the snake and Americans would be forgiven for thinking peace is set to follow.

Álvarez González and his network of shell companies flourished between 2018 and 2024, during the presidency of Andrés Manuel López Obrador. During that period, he established 45% of the companies he allegedly used to launder money for the Jalisco cartel.
