U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill on Tuesday was elected governor of New Jersey, defeating Jack Ciattarelli, who was endorsed by President Donald Trump.

"Obviously this is an attempt to suppress the vote here. I don't think New Jerseyans take very kindly to that kind of tampering in our election system," Sherrill told reporters Tuesday.
