CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Ohio’s annual sales tax holiday is expanded to a full two weeks this year and runs through Aug. 14. The annual event allows families to buy school supplies, clothes and almost all tangible personal property priced at $500 or less to be purchased without paying 5.75 percent state sales tax, plus the local sales tax.

In 2024, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and the Ohio General Assembly expanded the sales tax holiday to include more items and run longer. That trend will continue this year, with the holiday applying to tax-free purchases made in-person or online on all eligible items of up to $500.

The 2025 holiday will run for two full weeks, beginning at midnight on Friday, August 1, and ending at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, August 14.
