This week, Belgian authorities have arrested several people as part of a corruption investigation related to the European Parliament and Chinese tech giant Huawei. It has been confirmed that a large-scale investigation is ongoing into potential corruption, forgery, and money laundering occurring “very discreetly” since 2021.

The European Parliament on Friday banned lobbyists working for Huawei from its premises following the arrests of several people in a corruption probe linked to the Chinese company, in yet another scandal to rock the bloc's legislature.

The European Parliament has banned Huawei (HWT.UL) lobbyists from entering its buildings, a spokesperson for the parliament said on Friday, as authorities probe suspected bribery that could have helped the Chinese tech giant.
