OpenAI, reportedly valued at up to $500 billion, remains privately held, with significant backing from Microsoft. But Altman noted that the company is still navigating operational challenges that make a public listing difficult for now.

In a social media post this week, Sam Altman seemed to suggest that GPT-5 will be the AI model powering OpenAI's first hardware.
