Ott coached with Vaughn in Brooklyn during his six seasons as an assistant with the Nets. Vaughn was a fellow assistant with the Nets and also took over as interim head coach for a period. He was among several coaches who influenced the new Phoenix Suns head coach.

This is a wait-and-see approach. Let Durant start the year, showcase his value, and pivot if the team under performs. The risk here is obvious. Durant’s value could dip due to injury or regression, but the potential return could increase if contenders get desperate.
