San Diego Padres superstar Manny Machado rips into a St. Louis Cardinals coach, benches clear once again, and some major trade deadline updates are given.

Just when Mike Shildt and the San Diego Padres needed it most, the best players on the team stepped up in a big way. Following back-to-back days of benches clearing in St. Louis between the Cardinals and Padres, cooler heads prevailed on Sunday.

Machado — who had previously held a public friendship with Jay due to their Miami ties — didn’t mince words when asked if he was still friends with the Cardinals coach. “No. Absolutely not,” Machado said, per Dennis Lin and Katie Woo of The Athletic.

ST. LOUIS — The Padres started and finished strong on their longest road trip of the season. They concluded the 10-game, three-city trip Sunday with a 9-2 victory over the Cardinals built mostly in the first four innings.

Despite warnings issued to both teams earlier in the game, umpire Lance Barrett deemed Granillo did not intentionally throw at Machado.
