Regardless, after all this happened, I had the feeling that I should research this anyways, just to be safe, and I found a bunch of different reports online of people falling for the “$0.30 redelivery fee scam”, especially on this subreddit [turns out that the REAL USPS never charges for redelivery, just as a post-clarification].

Dec 6, 2022 · I’m very aware and usually good with scam detection but I didn’t look at the link at all before clicking it. It looked like a valid tiny url type of thing. The site was a wonderfully done replica of the USPS website. It asked for the correct address and authorization to charge $3 for the redelivery with the right street number.

Feb 1, 2024 · When I googled if USPS usually asks for a re-delivery fee I got a few posts from r/Scams, so I'm making my contribution in case someone also googles this. What threw me off is that the page looked exactly like USPS down to having a security certificate (can scam pages have a legitimate security certificate? Chrome authenticated it).

For the address section, I did put the court's actual address, but when I got the confirmation it read as: Sending to: My First Name, Last Name
