Trolley Buses entered service in Brisbane 12th August 1951. They were an electric bus that ran off overhead wires similar to Trams. Having rubber tyres, unlike a tram, could not get their negative return through metal wheels, hence needing a negative pole as well. The poles were long to enable the bus to pull over to the curb without detaching from the overhead wires.
