Coral reefs are living, dynamic ecosystems that nurture more than a quarter of all 🌊 marine life. Smithsonian scientists and partners were the first to use frozen coral sperm to crossbreed coral that would otherwise remain geographically isolated, with the aim of giving coral like the endangered Elkhorn coral a boost against warming oceans.
