On April 30, 1945, prisoners at Ravensbrück concentration camp began witnessing the collapse of Nazi control. Located in northern Germany, Ravensbrück was the largest concentration camp for women in the Third Reich. Established in 1939, it imprisoned more than 130,000 women and children over the course of the war, including political prisoners, resistance fighters, Jews, Roma, and civilians from across occupied Europe.
