Unlike the very upright form of Aspidistra elatior, Aspidistra sichuanensis and its cultivars have curved foliage that creates a flowy presence in the garden. In late winter the shallow rhizomes produce 1 inch wide red, starry shaped flowers close to the ground. The are slowly stoloniferous, expect a 4 foot wide patch in 12 years. Aspidistra sichuanensis 'Spotty' looks lovely when backlit by the setting sun. The foliage last a long time in arrangements and looks great all year round in the garde
