Once a year, prairie dogs go into a natural hormonal phase called rut (basically their version of spring fever/heat). During this time, Poppy’s instincts go into overdrive, which can make her extra energetic, moody, clingy, or suddenly a little bitey. One moment she wants cuddles, the next she’s telling the world she’s a powerful prairie goblin who needs space.
