Officer Simon began his career with the Kansas City, Missouri Department in 1992. He started his tenure as a patrol officer initially working out of the East patrol zone and later the Central patrol zone. In May of 1995, he accepted a position with the City of Hazelwood, Missouri Police Department. He served the citizens of Hazelwood as a patrol officer until the year 2000 when he was selected to become a school resource officer.
