A San Diego County Library branch hired Annette Hubbell to portray Harriet Beecher Stowe, Mary McLeod Bethune, and Harriet Tubman as part of a “tribute to ordinary women who became extraordinary.” But three months after booking her, the library administration asked her only to portray white women in her performance. A baby can often learn sign language before they can speak. "Baby & Me" classes with Baby Sign Language Basics by Monta Z. Briant at the La Mesa County library (8074 Allison Avenue) are opening up a whole new world of communications for kids 6 mos. to 3-years-old. Classes include fun activities for little ones & teach parents easy strategies that get babies communicating long before speech is possible. The classes at the La Mesa branch are held the second Tuesday of each month from 10:30am–11:15
