Aren’t these doggies gorgeous? 😍 If you’re a dog owner, our reservoirs in Yorkshire are paw-some for long walks with your pooch. 🐶 Just a friendly reminder that if you’re popping by our sites anytime soon, please keep your dogs on a lead, even if they are well-behaved, to protect the wildlife, and stick to paths. 📷 Photo Credits: its_ozzy_doodle, our colleague Katie, itsmaple_not_mabel and padmes_adventure via Instagram Reservoirs featured: Langsett (photo 1) , Ardsley (photo 2 and 4) and Cod

This week, Andy is at one of our South Yorkshire reservoirs , Langsett, just outside of Sheffield. While rainfall has been lower than average across our region, South Yorkshire has seen even less, meaning it needs extra support to help manage water resources better. In this video, Andy talks about our current water situation and how your help and support are making a positive difference. He also takes a look back on the 1995 drought and how we’re making a conscious effort to do things differentl

It’s safe to say that 2025 has been challenging for our reservoirs. Earlier in the year, we had the driest spring and summer for well over a century, followed by six months of drought in Yorkshire. This saw some of our reservoirs' levels drop drastically, reaching a combined lowest average capacity of 30.6% during September.💧 Thankfully they're now back to a much healthier level, after some very welcome rainfall, drought permits, and the incredible efforts from our customers and colleagues. We've had a bit of rain lately, which is great, but it's not quite enough yet. To really help the soil recover, refill our reservoirs, and ease the drought's impact, we need consistent and steady rainfall. So, let's hold off on using our hosepipes for a while until the reservoirs have bounced back. This way, we can ensure there's enough water for everyone. | Yorkshire Water

☀️ As the warm and dry weather continues, and with Yorkshire having experienced its driest combined February, March and April for 90 years, our dedicated colleagues are working around the clock to make sure there’s enough water for everyone. Currently, reservoir levels are at 73.1%, which is lower than the average for this time of year (89.5%) - that's a decrease of 3% week on week. We’ve also seen a 60 million litres per day increase in usage over the weekend – that’s enough to supply the equiv

Yorkshire, starting on Friday 11 July, a temporary use ban (TUB), which is a restriction on the use of hosepipes, will come into effect. This will help our region’s reservoir levels recover and protect Yorkshire's water resources throughout the summer months, following one of the driest springs on record and the region being in drought. We've tried everything possible to avoid these restrictions, and despite our customers' help to save water where they can and our efforts to manage water resourc

In our latest update on water resources, Andy is at the beautiful Swinsty Reservoir in North Yorkshire. He’s there to talk about our current reservoir levels and how we’re carefully managing water resources across the region. He also answers a common question we often hear: “Why don’t we just build new reservoirs?” To get all the details and hear Andy’s insights, watch the video below.🥰 | Yorkshire Water

This year has been exceptionally dry, with Yorkshire experiencing the driest spring on record in 132 years. We’ve now had seven months of below-average rainfall, and our reservoir levels are continuing to drop. To help us prepare for the months ahead and refill our reservoirs over winter, we’ve applied for drought permits from the Environment Agency. These permits would temporarily allow us to: 🔹 Take more water from rivers to maintain supply 🔹 Reduce how much water we release from reservoirs

This week Dave is back with another update on our water resources and this time he’s at Baitings reservoir. It might seem that it’s done nothing but rain over the last week or so but the rainfall we’ve had hasn’t been enough to top up our reservoirs, and they’ve dropped again this week. In this video, Dave explains a bit more about this and how we’re all working together to protect water resources. We’d like to thank you all again for your help in reducing water usage and popping your hosepipes

This week Andy is at the beautiful Baitings reservoir in West Yorkshire. With the region seeing more rainfall recently than we did in the spring and summer, we know many of our customers may be wondering how this impacts our water resources, the restrictions we have in place and how this compares to the last drought. So, keep watching this video to find out a bit more about this. It’s not quite as easy as saying we need to get to a certain percentage or level for us to lift hosepipe restrictions

Yorkshire Water has announced hosepipe restrictions will be brought in from Friday in an effort to protect water supplies ahead of a predicted warm summer. The supplier said the region has experienced both the driest and warmest spring on record, getting just 15 centimetres of rain between February and June - less than half what is expected in an average year. There has also been a higher water demand, leaving the region’s reservoirs at 55.8 per cent full. The ban means people will have to stop

In this video, Dave is delving into how our Water Resource Management Plan helps us to understand what we need to do to manage Yorkshire’s water supplies into the future. This includes considerations for new reservoirs, expanding on groundwater sources and reducing demand. With this year being exceptionally dry and having seven months of below-average rainfall, our reservoirs are continuing to decrease every week. If you’ve visited any of our sites over the past few months, you may have noticed that the reservoir levels differ across the region, with many looking lower than others. We know many of you would like to understand why that happens and what factors contribute to these differing levels. So if you’d like to find out more, here's Andy to explain some of th
